UNPACKING TESOLÂ
Professional training, coaching, supportive community, and resources designed specifically for ESL tutors and teachers teaching adult English learners to enhance their skills, save prep time, and deliver effective and engaging lessons. Let's unpack TESOL together!
About Me
Hi, and thank you for stopping by! I’m Kelly.
I’m a TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) teacher and tutor trainer with a deep-rooted passion for education. I come from a long line of educators—I’m a fifth-generation teacher, and a love for teaching is truly in my DNA.
I hold an MA in TESOL and am a multilingual educator with over 15 years of experience teaching adult ESL in Spain, Brazil, and the United States. While I truly love teaching adult ESL, I’ve found that training ESL teachers and tutors is one of the most rewarding parts of my work. Supporting educators allows me to reach far more learners by helping shape their future teachers—and just as importantly, to learn alongside them. Because if there’s one thing I know for sure, it’s that teachers are lifelong learners.
I’ve presented at local and international conferences to share knowledge and best practices in adult ESL education, including the TESOL International Convention and the West Chester University TALFL Conference. I was also honored to receive West Chester University’s 2019 TESOL Award. My professional interests include adult ESL, thoughtfully integrating technology into language learning, and creating relevant, engaging, and effective materials and curriculum.
At the heart of my work is task-based language teaching and a student-centered approach. I focus on learners’ individual needs, goals, and experiences to create meaningful, interactive, and impactful learning. Whether I’m teaching, training tutors, or leading workshops, my goal is to make learning practical, empowering, and human.
When I’m not teaching, writing, or developing materials, I love spending time with my husband and my two adorable, highly energetic toddlers. We currently live in Virginia, U.S., but you can often find us traveling to visit family and friends sprinkled all over the globe. I’ve also had the opportunity to travel throughout North, Central, and South America, Europe, Asia, and Australia, and I’m always inspired by different cultures and languages.
Besides traveling, I enjoy working out, hiking, reading, swimming, and spending time at the beach. I’m also learning to bake sourdough bread (still very much a work in progress!).
If you’re an ESL teacher, tutor, or organization looking for guidance, collaboration, or professional development, I’d love to connect.
